What is a Domain?
Domain, also called domain name, is the name of a website operating on the internet. Domain names serve to replace a long and hard-to-remember IP address like: 123.45.67.89 on the internet with a "Domain Name" in the form of abc.com.
The purpose of domain names is to allow Internet users to find a website address or send to an email address with a friendly, easy-to-remember name,... like companyname.com or www.companyname.com without having to remember complicated number addresses.
Domain Registration Rules and Regulations
- Domain names must not exceed 63 characters (including the .com, .net, .org, .info extension).
- Domain names only include alphabetic characters (a-z), numbers (0-9) and hyphens (-). Spaces and other special characters are not valid.
- Do not start or end the domain name with a hyphen (-).
- Your domain name does not need to start with http:// or www or http://www.
- Keep the name short and memorable
- Domain name should relate to your Brand, product, or Company name.
- Avoid confusion.
- Difficult to misspell.
